In the last 112 years, 104 fire fighters have given their lives in the line of duty protecting Arizona citizens and treasure. The United Fire Fighters Association, Inc. is spearheading a landmark project to build The Arizona Fire Fighter Memorial in Wesley Bolin Plaza adjacent to the state capitol complex. The goal is to honor all fire fighters, paramedics, forestry service personnel and others who have dedicated their lives to protecting Arizona citizens from fire, flood and accidents. The Memorial will feature 10 life-sized bronze statues, ample open space for reflection and a Living Tree area to allow individuals to create their own tribute. The total cost of over $1.5 with work commencing in March 2015. The Memorial will open in October 2015 thanks to the generous contributions scores of Valley companies and corporations.
