(May 23, 2024…Phoenix, AZ) B&C congratulates our May Star Teacher Jessica Tapia of Desert Valley Elementary School in Glendale. Desert Valley is a K-8 school with 620 students located at 63rd Avenue south of Thunderbird Road in the Peoria Unified School District. Jessica has been teaching 3rd grade for 32 years and was nominated by parent Heidi Granatelli:
I cannot say enough good things about Mrs. Tapia. The way that she loves the children and what she does is evident every single day. She always has a smile on her face, a kind word to share, and wants each child to succeed. She retired a couple years ago, but missed teaching so she came back. Now her husband is ill, so she is the breadwinner of her family. Giving her a little gift like this would brighten her day the way that she brightens all of her student’s day. My daughter absolutely adores her teacher and can’t wait to go to school to see her.
A Valley teacher is chosen each month to receive $500 through a nominating process on the firm’s website www.bcattorneys.com. Nominations are accepted from students, former students and parents who wish to honor and thank a teacher who has had a profound impact on their life. Many teachers spend their own money to augment the costs of classroom supplies, field trips and other non-covered costs that arise throughout the school year. B&C hopes to alleviate that burden for one deserving teacher each month. In addition, the school where the educator teaches receives a check for $250 to be used at their discretion.
Nominations are open to all teachers in K-12 who teach in Maricopa County. Winners will be notified and then presented a check at their school by a member of Burch & Cracchiolo. Photos and/or video will be taken to post on the firm website and social media.
